Exceptional Prenatal and Postnatal Muskuloskeletal Care

Pregnancy is a life-changing experience. However, the physical transformations you experience can take a toll on your body. As the baby grows, your hormones, posture, and balance change to accommodate the new life inside you. These changes can trigger pregnancy-related pain in your neck, shoulders, low back, and pelvis, which may cause discomfort.

Childbirth can also be a physically demanding event for your body. The process of labour and delivery can cause additional pain and discomfort in your back and pelvis.

Our expert physiotherapist can help ensure that you experience a healthy pregnancy through our prenatal physiotherapy services. We also offer postnatal treatments to help you recover from the pregnancy and delivery.

How Our Antenatal and Postnatal Physio Treatment Can Help

Taking care of your body during pregnancy and after giving birth is essential to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Undergoing physiotherapy treatment during and after pregnancy will also allow you to manage the different conditions you can encounter and recover from them. Here at OneEssential, we use different mobilisations and exercises to help you cope with the changes your body is going through.

During Pregnancy

As the baby grows in your body during pregnancy, your posture and centre of gravity will change, which can lead to back pain and other issues. With antenatal physiotherapy, we can help you address this issue by providing you with advice on how to improve your posture. We can also teach you exercises that will strengthen your core muscles, help you maintain good balance, and prepare your body for labour.

After Childbirth

Recovering from childbirth takes time and effort, but postnatal physiotherapy can help you speed up the process. We can provide you with advice on how to heal your body after delivery and teach you exercises that will help you regain your strength. Our professional physiotherapist can also help you cope with conditions such as incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, and scar tissue pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can visit a physiotherapist for prenatal care at any time during your pregnancy. Most women consult a physiotherapist when they start experiencing pain and other issues, which may arise during the 10th or 11th week of pregnancy. However, others might not experience any symptoms until their 31st to 32nd week, when the baby is big enough to cause back pain and other problems.

Our physiotherapist can provide you with advice on finding the most healthy posture that works for you. This can include teaching you how to sit and gently bounce on an exercise ball or how to properly lean forward on your hands and knees to relieve your back and pelvis from the baby’s weight. These are methods you can use to relieve pain while going into labour.

You can start your postnatal physio treatment as soon as possible if you had a normal delivery. Our physiotherapist will start with abdomen muscle exercises and pelvic floor work to allow you to recover faster. We can also provide you with advice on how to manage your pain and other issues as you heal from childbirth.

If you delivered your baby via C-section, you might have to wait for a while before visiting our postnatal care clinic. You will need approval from your GP after 6 weeks from your delivery date to assess your recovery. If everything is going well and you’re comfortable enough, only then can you start your physiotherapy treatment.
